Michael Jackson cast 80 members of the Los Angeles’ Crips and Bloods for the music video “Beat It” in hopes to foster peace between them.

…did it work??

The short answer is no.

The long answer is that it introduced the idea of a truce in the minds of younger gang members on both sides. They grew up to lead both the 1988 peace summit (which included a brief ceasefire) and the 1992 truce. The truce, and the Rodney King Riots which coincidentally started the very next day, fundamentally changed gang life in LA, making the streets safer, dropping the murder rate, and increasing illegal drug profits for about a decade.

He was fucking wonderful and did wonderful things for people without ever asking for credit for it.

MJ is a great example of how black celebrities try to use their opportunities and fame to help the black community. I want modern black artists to act like him.

#BlackExcellence #BlackPride

Another reason to love him. Rip

Wow I never really looked at the dresses they wore

First they mock then they copy

The corset was made for the same reason. To give white women the allusion of having curves like the black woman.

White people are fucking. Crazy.

He couldn’t get a tight cap to cover his hair? The anti-blackness jumped the fuck out!

This is bullshit. Poor Andrew. Why could he just wear a cap? His hair doesn’t have to do with shit

As a female wrestler I KNOW, there is no rule that should have this man cut his hair. He could have been given a wrestling boat bonnet that goes over/under any wrestler’s head gear.

Female wrestlers can have their hair any length as long as it can be covered in the bonnet, even long hair male wrestlers.

Black hair has no effect on a wrestlers performance no matter the hair style (natural, dreads, any form of braids) and should not be required to be cut. Only if it is longer then a few inches, then it should be covered in a bonnet like any other longer haired individual never cut.

His hair didn’t even meet the length required to becovered by a bonnet. Really disgusting how outrageous and obviously racist the whole thing is.
